Go Bruins

Well, thank goodness that was quick.

Sometimes, there is justice.  The better team won. No, the way better team won... easily.

Congratulations to all the Bruins but especially to Claude Julien and Michael Ryder, for a well-deserved throttling of the Habs. And a shout-out to Pascal, long-suffering fan who must be in heaven. (still can't get over a Montrealer rooting for the Bruins but whatever, that's for another time)

And so concludes the first decade in the Habs' history without a single Cup.

See you next year, boys.

In the meantime, we root for Boston.  And it will be a pleasure doing so against the hated Rangers.

Trailing 3-1 in their series against Tampa bay was a familiar place for the Red Sox as they've climbed back from being down and almost out twice in the past 4 years (miraculous comeback against the Evil Yankees in 2004 and a lovely turnaround against Cleveland last year). Both years, the season ended with a parade in beantown. 

This year seemed a little different. With injuries hobbling ace Josh Beckett, strongman David Ortiz, rightfielderJD Drew as well as third baseman Mike Lowell, it would have been easy for this team to roll over and say it wasn't just meant to be.

But that's not what happened.

No, that's not what happened at all. The Red Sox fought tooth & nail to claw their way back from a 7-0 deficit to win game 5 and last night they beat the Rays again to force tonight's 7th and deciding game. There's no way to know whether they will complete the comeback tonight but having gotten this far is a victory in itself.

Say what you will, they've shown guts and determination and that's exactly how the Champs should be.

Win or lose tonight, they've done right by their fans this year. Go Sox.

11:50 PM Update: Tampa 3, Boston 1

Go Rays.

Red Sox 3, Angels 2

The Angels had maybe the best team in baseball this year and always play tough but the Sox are a ridiculous 13-1 against Anaheim in the playoffs, going back to 1986. 

Tonight, Boston eliminated Anaheim and now, it's on to Tampa.

Go Sox.

UPDATE: I'm still trying to figure this techie stuff out but for the record, Mike has been useless. Shocker, I know.
