I've tried to avoid making the blog as a medium for voicing petty grievances or Seinfeld-like observations. That's more of a twitter thing, as far as I'm concerned but in this case, I am making an exception because it involves the commission of an actual crime that we see every day, yet none of us do anything to prevent or bring the perpetrators to justice.
Imagine the following scene: You are in line at Starbucks, the person ahead of you orders a "Tall coffee in Grande cup". (medium coffee in a large cup)
This person may like a lot of milk in their coffee so they request a large cup but it only gets filled 3/4 of the way with coffee and they proceed to fill the cup the rest of the way with milk, as if the milk is free. The milk is not free, folks. It's included in the price of the coffee, along with the sugar, the stir stix, the lid, the seating, etc. If you want a large coffee with a lot of milk, you should pay for a large coffee with a lot of milk. Not order a medium coffee and add a couple of udders worth of milk. If you don't think the milk carries any cost, try walking in and ordering a free cup of milk. See how far that gets you. Or walk in and ask for a pound of sugar to go.
This happens every single day. Probably tens of thousands of times a day, in fact, at coffee shops around the world. Never fails to piss me and I make a point of giving the thief a good, long stare that tells them I'm onto them. One of these days, I'm going to make a citizen's arrest. People at SB are too nice to say anything but you know they're thinking Hey! How 'bout paying for that Grande if that's what you wants?"! (I'm not sure why they would be thinking in an ethnic manner but whatever, that's the way I imagined it)
So, milk thief, consider yourself forewarned and watch your ass because one of these days, your luck is gonna run out...
