Whose fault was it the bailout didn't pass?
Well, as far as I'm concerned, the buck stops with the voters, who get the government they deserve.
With elections coming up in Canada and the US, if you don't think your vote counts, you haven't been paying attention.
On the other hand, all this just confirms my belief that democracy just doesn't work. Either make people pass a test before they get a vote or give me a benevolent dictatorship anyday.
UPDATED at 5:30 PM: Another very thoughtful piece on yesterday's No vote in the House, by David Brooks.
Psst... Brooks is a conservative but for heaven's sake, nobody tell Rick I said that.

David Brooks has been described as the Left's favorite conservative...
That pretty much tells the story don't you think?

you would make a good platonist. plato liked his hierarchies, atop which philospher-kings ruled (benevolently, of course).
or a theocracy.

Dilys, I just can't shake the feeling the world would be just fine if everyone just did what I told them to do.
Though, the Stanley Cup parade routes might get a little predictable after a while. Pretty much like life in the 70s.

I thought we already had a dictatorship. Albeit a very stupid dictator, but hey ... no one said that they had to pass an IQ test. So I guess that doesn't work either.
